Overview of the Oil industry, Drilling & Offshore Technologies – GPC 02

 

Introduction

This course is one in several Preamble courses in our training program. It covers the oil and gas industry as a whole, highlighting the basics of Oil exploration, drilling, production, Refining, etc. It gives you a broad view of the impact of technology in successful production of Oil and gas from different locations. The course also exposes you to Oil drilling, Offshore Oilfield and Marine services. The theoretical training is blended with real life exposure by site visit(s)

 

Learning Objectives  

  • Understand the different categories of Oil and gas companies by the category of operations they do.
  • Gain a clear appreciation of the various types of oil and gas services provided by oilfield services companies.
  • Know the current and future technology trends in oil and gas production
  • Gain some insight in the basics overview of Oil drilling, Oil drilling rig and Drilling mud functions.
  • Understand job opportunities and prospects in the offshore Oilfield services and Marine services sector.
  • Better employability & prep for career opportunities in these sectors through our courses and training programs.

 

Course Target Audience                           

This course is designed for fresh graduates from all Engineering and Science departments, including Law, Business admin, etc that have not had any work experience.  It is also meant for entry level professionals, new employees and those seeking to switch from their present jobs into the Oil & Gas / Offshore services sector.  

Delivery Methods       

This course is delivered online in a monthly cycle for self-paced learners. It is also offered full time under TAP (Technology Apprenticeship Program) as a series of 6 courses followed by internship. TAP enrollment is Quarterly or annually.  A conceptual project, documents from a past or ongoing Project or linked to a processing plant operations forms the basis of practical classes. At the end of each section, you will take a short quiz aimed at testing your understanding of the topics taught. An online Slack channel which will be your virtual classroom and means of communication with other trainees and the tutor. Site visit is done Quarterly or periodically for Online groups.

Practical component of this course          

During the 6 day duration of this course the practical application of what you learn will be discussed in the virtual classroom and through Class exercises. The practical aspect of the Training is delivered through internship or Site Visit. Site visit is arranged quarterly or biannually for combined batches of online learners. This course can be taken as a single course to up-skill in your career by brief practical exposure in a site visit.

 

Alternatively, you can take the course as one of the 6 courses in our Technology Apprenticeship Program (TAP). TAP gives a wider and deeper practical exposure through our Internship that last for total duration of 1 year. TAP enrolment is exclusive to those on Orisson Training Bond or those that are able to pay the Consolidated Tuition payment for 6 TAP Courses by departmental groups or Trainee / Sponsor preferred Course combination.

For TAP training, the course work will last for about 6 weeks. The next 6 weeks will be spent with our design or Project team that is working on a real life project. Practical work in this stage will include Engineering design, Project planning, Cost estimation and Sales Engineering (Business Development). The 3rd stage will be a 9 months internship where you will apply these knowledge in a full time training on the job.

Tuition Fees & Internship information

  • Tuition fees for online learners is $250 (#150,000 – Subsidized @ #600: $1)
  • A special discount of 50% applies for Students that register for the course. T & C applies.
  • Tuition fees for TAP trainees is $500 / Course (Part of the course series of 6 courses with internship for 1 full year)
  • Register by filling your details. The Training school admin will mail you the pro - forma invoice with payment instructions.
  • When you send a confirmation of payment we will complete your enrolment and give you access to the online virtual classroom on a slack channel. This completes your onboarding process.
  • Online Learners Time table is in Monthly batches. Certificates are issued on a monthly basis. However, if you register later than the 3rd week of the month, you will be joined to the next month's batch.
  • TAP Trainees enrollment is quarterly or annually. You can get info on next TAP enrolment by e-mail enquiry or call the School admin.
