Introduction

This course is one of the major courses for Mechanical Engineering Department in our Training School.  Centrifugal Pumps, Compressors and Turbines are a group of Mechanical equipment that transfers energy between a rotor and a fluid. Process plants in Upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas, including manufacturing industries rely on Pumps and compressors for transfer of liquids and gases. Turbines is required to generate power from fuel gas. This course will give the trainees a deep insight into the functional description, industry applications and Component parts that make up centrifugal pumps, compressors and turbines.  Practical work exercise and quizzes will be done based on real project cases

Learning Objectives

  •  Understand the different types of heavy duty pumps and their industry applications.
  • Gain a clear appreciation of centrifugal pumps operation and maintenance practices with a practical case.
  • Get a deep insight into the similarities and differences between compressors and Turbines.
  • Get a better understanding of the use of compressors and turbines in Oil and gas production and processing.
  • Gain some insight in the operations and maintenance procedures and practices in the use of compressors and turbines as it applies to the Oil and Gas, process industries.

Delivery Methods

This course is delivered online on a weekly cycle for self-paced learning or in TAP Course series. TAP is the option of full time training where this course is offered in a Quarterly cycle.  A conceptual project, documents from a past or ongoing Project or link to a process plant operations forms the basis of practical classes. At the end of the course, you will take a short quiz aimed at testing your understanding of the topics taught. The Online forum which will be your means of communication with other trainees and the tutor. Site visit is donequarterly for combined groups.

Course Target Audience

This course is designed for Fresh graduates of engineering background with no work experience, entry level professionals and those seeking to switch from their present jobs into the Offshore Oil & Gas services, Process, Power and marine Industries. Others are those that seek job roles that has to do with the design, installation and maintenance of mechanical drives in Mining and agroallied industries.
